Sewing is the ultimate form of recycling
Unknown

We had a lovely weekend, just the two of us. The little family arrived on Sunday lunchtime to spend a few days at the caravan, and we left in the evening. It has felt like a real break for all of us.

I walked for miles, and also used my sewing skills at the weekend. I took my sewing machine and made a pair of curtains out of a duvet cover for our caravan bedroom. I hemmed them by hand yesterday afternoon so I've got almost everything finished now. I just need to locate part of a vintage blanket and my embroidery threads ( all thrifted) so I can make a cushion to go with one I made years ago and which still looks as good as the day I finished it.

I also have to make some curtain linings out of a carbooted pure cotton sheet for the bedroom at the caravan that my daughter uses... a quick job with the sewing machine. I'll attach them to the curtains this weekend.

I'll always be glad that I ignored several teachers at school ( including the head), and to their horror took an O level in Needlework rather than German or Physics.

It has served me well, and over the years has both saved and earned me money.
