Positives #32 Tidying

I used to have a really tidy house.
Then life happened and we went from a household of 2 to a household of 5, with the 'stuff' that comes with 3 more people, all of whom are high maintenance where hair and skin care are concerned.

My 'bathroom cabinet' is over 7 feet tall  (purchased secondhand after they moved in), and yet it was still crammed full, and more stuff had spilled over onto the windowsill.

I'd intended to sort it when we decorate the bathroom ( decision still to be made on paint colour. I need to hurry up as paint is on offer at Wickes), but couldn't wait any longer. On Wednesday afternoon I took a chair in there with a couple of carrier bags so that I could sit to sort it out.

Things that were out of date or no longer suitable were disposed of, and people were assigned a basket/ shelf or in some cases, both.

I found 4 tubes of toothpaste in there that I didn't know I had, which just shows the state of the cupboard, and my mind.

At least I won't need to buy any for a while!

  1. Well done. I'm not the world's best housewife by any means, but mess and clutter really grate on me and I just have to sort them out for the sake of my sanity, so I empathise with you.

    1. I swing from thinking ' what's the point?' to it giving me the absolute rage! There's so many jobs to do in the house, garden and allotment at the moment and not enough time or energy.

  2. I have so much purging to do it's quite insane. I've never had a neat home, but now I have doom rooms and it's not relaxing. Well done for you.

Like you, I have been decluttering recently - at 69 maybe it's Swedish death cleaning - but it has certainly been good for my mental health.
