Positives #16

I don't really shop unless it's thrift
Jeremy Scott

It's been a good thrifting weekend. The charity shops provided 2 brand new in packaging single sheets and pillowcases for our caravan bedroom at £3.50 per set, and a large mirror to replace the one above the caravan fireplace. The original was too blingy for our taste and was badly foxed along the edges. We've been looking for a replacement since last year, and there it was at the Shelter shop for £3.

I found the perfect rug for our caravan bedroom at the carboot on Sunday. It also cost £3, and a plain mustard cushion originally from Next cost £1. I also bought a Sylvac pot for £1; it's perfect for hiding my husband's vitamin bottles in ( I can't stand seeing them on the shelf) and another pair of BNIP pillowcases also for £1.

New one... much less in your face and blingy.

Original one...too much mirror for my liking, and showing damage. Next on the list to go... those curtains.

Apart from the mirror, I had no success in finding things for the living room makeover, but I did remember that I have some vintage velvet curtains that will be perfect to make cushion covers from, so that's  a win, and a cushion I used to have on a chair in the kitchen will also match in. New curtains will be the biggest cost, but we've just saved £90 on something else, so that will go a long way towards them. I'll have to buy new as I need 4 matching pairs for the living room area of the caravan.

Apart from thrift shopping we've walked for miles, enjoyed some beautiful sunsets, reunited a phone with its very grateful young owner using the power of social media, and found our first painted rock.

A lovely weekend was had.

  1. There’s something deeply satisfying about finding just the right pieces through thrifting—especially when they’re both beautiful and practical. You’ve brought such thoughtful character into your space without spending much at all. The mirror is a great improvement, and I love how intentional you are with every detail. Sounds like a truly rewarding weekend in more ways than one.

    1. Thank you. It was a good weekend and I'm really pleased with the changes. We have work to do around the garden and allotment this weekend, and a hen and stag do for my husband's brother and his partner, so I'll have to wait to make any more changes.
