Positives #9

There are always flowers for those who want to see them
Henri Matisse

I had a really busy day yesterday but was determined to carve out some time at the allotment. In the end, I went twice; two hours in the afternoon and one hour in the evening.

Progress has been made. The grass and paths have been strimmed, all of the raised beds have been painted, a flower bed has been dug over, and a lot of bindweed, dead foliage and rotten wood has been removed.

Things are looking better, which makes me feel better, and I found bonus snake's head fritillaries in the grass. I don't know how they got there, but they were a happy surprise yesterday, and I was very pleased to see them.

  1. My first priority in retirement is my yard and getting a vegetable garden started. Flowers though, will be added for joy.

    1. I find gardening very healing. When my heart condition was diagnosed and I had to give up my teacher training, it saved me from the pits of depression, and again when I spent 6 years going from one medical specialism to another trying to find out what was wrong with me ( ME/CFS). For me, there's something about having my hands in the dirt, growing things. Flowers are always a joy, and great for attracting pollinators.
