Positives #18

I'll never be perfect but I can be better
Bonnie Pfeister

I wanted to wear my black skinny jeans yesterday, but I discovered that they must be at the caravan. The only other black jeans I own are a size 10 bootcut pair. They didn't meet in the middle, let alone zip up, the last time I tried to put them on.
They're tighter than they used to be, tighter than I want them to be, and I still look chunky to me but they're on and wearable, so it's a step in the right direction, whilst doing my best not to starve myself to drop weight quickly.

Yesterday they fastened, and were comfortable enough to wear to go out for lunch to The Palazzo, Burnley, to belatedly celebrate our anniversary ( 44 years together, 41 married).
That's the only meal I had yesterday, but I ate it and I enjoyed it... it helped that it was really quiet in there.

The purse is now closed for the next 2 weeks until our niece's wedding. It's been an incredibly expensive month already with my dental implant, and then train fares, drinks and food for both of us at last weekend's stag and hen celebrations for J's brother and his partner.

We'll be eating from the cupboards and freezer, just doing minimal food shopping for the rest of this pay period, and not buying anything else. We've got the allotment to keep us busy, and the caravan to visit, where there's also food in the cupboards and freezer. We'll just need petrol to get there, and that's always budgeted for every month.

  1. We're also 44 years together and 42 married at the end of this month. Not bad for a girl who was insistent she never wanted to get married because marriages never lasted! You don't look at all chunky to me. xx

    1. We were told by some that it wouldn't last as we were 16 and 19 at the time. Oh, how we've proved those miserable people wrong.
I feel horrendously chunky today, hence the photo disappearing. To me, I still look like that size 20/22 person I was 7 years ago.

  2. We'll be 49 years married on Tuesday - 55 years together. We met when I was 14 and were married when I was 20.....couples are generally much older getting married now. I suppose they concentrate on education, travel and careers first.

  3. Happy belated anniversary. We've been together 39yrs & married for 36yrs in June. Our first son was a year old when we got married. I used to be a 20/22 and am now a 14 - still trying to reduce my weight though for health reasons. I'm positive those size 10's looked great on you (I didn't see the photo).

    1. Thank you. Happy Anniversary to you for next month.
It's a seemingly never ending battle with weight isn't it? I am trying to be better at taking things slowly, even though that goes against all my instincts, but it's a fine line between the bingeing I did for years, and the restriction of losing weight/ maintaining a weight that is well below what appears to be my set point.
