Colourful

Thursday's lunch... Little gem leaves with tuna (canned in springwater) mixed with Spring onion and lighter than light mayo, some cherry tomatoes, carrot sticks and cucumber. Light, fresh and tasty.

Today I had mushroom soup ( Marks and Spencer, 65p a can, I can recommend it), and 2 rice cakes followed by a clementine.

I made a Quorn shepherd's pie and a fish pie yesterday, so it will be one of those for tea, unless I can't stomach the thought of it, in which case I'll have apple, yoghurt and muesli (it never disappoints and is one of my safe meals).

I've also baked this week... lemon curd cake that's a hit with all the family.

It's been a quiet-ish week. Two days of childcare, 2 visits to my mum (on Wednesday I collected her meds from the pharmacy, dropped them off, read her meters, logged the readings online, did her shopping, unpacked it for her, stayed for a visit, and today I took my grandchild to see her and paid her bills).

I also had my mammogram, took myself off for a solo, peaceful coffee one day, did some shopping and called in at the dentist.  I had a phone call on Wednesday afternoon from them saying that my check up in June 2025 was showing as unpaid for. I knew I'd paid so I took in my bank statement to prove it. If I'd paid cash that wouldn't have been possible as I'd have shredded the receipt by now. Cash isn't always the best method of payment!

When I shopped for my mum in Asda they had nice bras reduced to £3 and £3.50, so I spent a bit of time trying some on and settled on 3. They cost less than the price of one at full price. I also bought myself 2 new long sleeved tops in Sainsbury's.  Both were reduced from £10 to £3, and will be handy for our trip away.

I'm set up with clothes for a long time now... I have them in 3 sizes!

  1. That's a full week. I was full on doctor's and dental appointments. I'm relieved today is last day of January. I need spring.

    1. I was hoping for a quieter week, but I have a few little jobs on the house to finish. We have been lucky this Winter... very little ice or frost and only a sprinkle of snow

It didn't sound like a quiet week, it's good that you have a break to look forward to. My go-to snack when I don't feel like a "proper" meal is apple slices with peanut butter. Your lemon curd cake sounds delicious!

    1. I've had a busy morning, doing some painting, popping into town for some spray paint, and calling at my mum's to collect her shopping list and bank card. I was painting before 8am today!
