I'm 61 today.
I had flowers and cards this morning, and our little 3.5 year old had written their own name in my card from them. Precious.
I spent most of the morning at the hospital having my pre-op appointment.
Then I helped J look after the little one until exhaustion claimed me and I fell asleep in the chair.
I'm now in bed, having taken 2 co-codamol to try to dampen the throbbing that's stretching from my eyes to my jaw.
I've had worse birthdays.
My 30th was spent choosing the flowers to go on my dad's coffin, amongst other sudden death related things.
My 54th was spent burying my sister in law.
Some years, it's just another day.
I'm OK with that.
Hopefully tomorrow will be better, and I'll put on my new pink coat and feel a million dollars.
Many happy returns. Enjoy your pink coat! xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Sooze. I've been out today but didn't wear it. My face is still throbbing!
DeleteRough day to try and celebrate but you are here and taking your life in your control.
ReplyDeleteThanks S. I was absolutely exhausted and fell asleep 3 times, twice in the afternoon and again in the early evening. We are trying, but there are now new potential health problems for both me and J causing delays.
DeleteHappy birthday ♥️x
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteFlowers and cards are signs that you are greatly loved - something to celebrate 🌺♥️
ReplyDeleteThanks Angela. Definitely a cause for celebration. There was also a new dressing gown and slippers for my upcoming operation, green trainers that I have wanted since last year, carrot cake with candles on 🎂 , and K and A are visiting tomorrow. So many good things.
DeleteHappy birthday! Hope tomorrow is a better day for you 🤞
ReplyDeleteThanks Joan. My face is still throbbing, but painkillers are helping with that, and I felt well enough to go out for coffee this morning.
DeleteHappy birthday Scarlet ! I have my granddaughter also called Scarlet coming to see me tomorrow! I hope your got better as it went on ! Debbie
ReplyDeleteThanks Debbie. I felt rough all day, but the pain isn't quite so bad today. I had 3 naps yesterday which is unheard of for me! Enjoy your visit. I have K and A visiting tomorrow which I'm looking forward to.
DeleteHappy belated birthday wishes. You're the same age as me, would've been in same school year. I'm 62 in October. I caught a glimpse of my face yesterday- I'm definitely looking old now!! I'm a sandwich like yourself, with pets as well. It's hard! I had to have my beautiful old rabbit put to sleep this week - it's knocked the stuffing out of me. I'm glad he lived happily to nearly 9 years though.
ReplyDeleteThank you. My face is now starting to sag, which saddens me a bit. The wrinkles and grey hair have never bothered me, but the saggy face does! Honestly, I'm sick of being the squashed filling in the sandwich, something my mother never was... I am very resentful of that at times, and refuse to put me, or my husband into an early grave because of it.
DeleteWishing you a very Happy Birthday, 61 is no age. I've just had my 73rd birthday and am grateful for every day as my dear Mum died aged only 47. Mentally I'm about 35, but the body is definitely 73. Wear your lovely pink coat and feel like you're on top of the world. Xx
ReplyDeleteThank you. Honestly, some days I feel like I've got one foot in the grave already. My dad died of a massive heart attack at 55 and I was wired up on coronary care at 43, so I appreciate every day, even the pain filled exhausting ones! I finally wore the pink coat today.
